The Project

Students built insect shelters across all school levels to support pollinating insects. The project included hands-on construction and creative design. Workshops using microscopes helped students identify insects and understand their life cycles. The initiative combines engineering, science, and environmental responsibility to promote biodiversity.

Motivation for the initiative:

Students learned about the decline of insect populations and wanted to take action. Insect hotels were created to provide shelter and raise awareness about insect biodiversity. The activity also supports hands-on engineering and creativity.

Activities associated with this green initiative:

• Task 1: Create shelters for pollinating insects at all school levels, from preschool to primary
• Task 2: Workshops on insect identification using microscopes in the STEAM classroom.
• Task 1: Participation in the workshop “Pollinators: Guardians of Biodiversity” conducted by GREFA (Wildlife Recovery Group) for 4th and 5th graders. Students will later share the knowledge with other grades (3rd and 6th), promoting peer learning. ECOESCUELA committee members provide the same workshops for 1st and 2nd graders.
