Diese ist wichtig bei der Anlage von Fruchtfolgebeeten. Starkzehrer (z. B. Kohlgem\u00fcse) ben\u00f6tigen f\u00fcr ein gutes Wachstum au\u00dferordentlich viele N\u00e4hrstoffe. Daher werden sie bei einer Fruchtfolge als Erste angebaut. Mittelzehrer (z. B. Karotten) ben\u00f6tigen schon deutlich weniger N\u00e4hrstoffe. Schwachzehrer (z. B.
